Karlsvik was raised in [[Frei]], [[Nordmøre]], and has an [[IB Diploma Programme|International Baccalaureate]] from the [[Red Cross Nordic United World College]]. She has a [[Bachelor of Fine Arts|Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts]] from the [[Glasgow School of Art]], a B.A. in journalism from the [[University of Bergen]], and a certificate from [http://www.skrivekunst.no/ The Bergen Academy of Writing].
