MemberIn the code, they are called "Rattlers", because of the sound they make.
I think what they were going for with this creature is to be a sort of alarm for the other rot-ed creatures, alerting them that something is nearby, as most rot enemies are sound based predators.

MemberFunnily enough their rattling seems to be totally ignored, in fact i've seen them grab full on DLLs and make them go limp for a moment getting dragged around. I have to wonder if the tentacles being more purple means they're some unique kind of rot.
Anyway, if you can tip it's shell to the side you can lodge spears in the hole on the top...
