I think it's to help deal with trolls or potential anti-furries from wreaking havoc on the website, either through deterring them or by having them draw something that could hint at their intentions.

I don't know if it's linked to an IP (i.e. you'd have to redo the test on other devices), which could be a pretty powerful ban tool, or just to the user's account. You should probably look for an official statement from staff for more details.

It's an april fools thing but there is a real message. It pokes fun at the Arizona bill that would make it so verification is mandatory
