Description
Good Morning Western Basitin!
Merenda applying her white body paint in the morning, a standard ritual for many Westies, suggested by Quinn Auer and Jordan Demetriou
April 7th:It's that time again e621! The 2025 staff drive will be opening later this week! Please get your resumes and forklift licenses ready and keep an eye on the news/forums. Hope to see some fresh meat for the salt mines.
Feb 26th:A new bill in Arizona is making its way through the Senate that would force sites like e621 to implement mandatory age verification for all users—or face potential lawsuits. This system would require third-party vendors to verify every user’s age through a government database. Not only is this a massive violation of privacy, but it also introduces serious risks, including identity theft through phishing schemes and other malicious methods. Worse still, we would have no control over ensuring that user data is permanently deleted after verification.
Since e621 operates out of Arizona, this law would almost certainly impact us if it passes. If you want to help ensure that we can continue serving you without being forced to collect personal information, we urge you to contact Arizona’s senators and ask them to vote NO on this bill.
Please help spread the word about this issue and encourage others to take action.
Further information on the bill itself can be found at the Free Speech Coalition: https://action.freespeechcoalition.com/bill/arizona-hb-2112/
We still have a Discord server, come talk to us!

MemberI'll use this coloring as an opportunity to share a little fun fact I realized some time ago - the Snack Basitin's first appearance took place more than a year before her debut in the comic, in this drawing.

MemberIt seems that she has a name now too!
I just posted the description Tom gave this on DeviantArt.

MemberShe already appeared in the main comic when the fox Carver got teleported to the Basitin Isles, at least it looks like her: https://twokinds.keenspot.com/comic/1022/
Also, Tom changed her eye color to amber since blue wasn't consistent with the previous comic appearance.

MemberThat's a different Basitin. The fur and hair colors match, but the clothes and hairstyle are different, alongside other details. But most of all, they both appear in this sketch, so they're confirmed to be different characters.

The eye color issue does baffle me though. It seems to be ember in the comic pages and most sketches, but it's blue in the one we're commenting under and the other colored drawing I linked. Perhaps Tom did the change when he introduced the until then single-appearance character into the comic, but changed his mind later and reverted to blue?

MemberThat comment made me realise just how many of Tom's characters are black/white
Adira, Maeve, Amelia, Willow, Stoney, Lady Nora; lynx Alice Reed, wolf Euchre, and wolf Raine are all greyscale characters, excluding eye colour
