    Definitely not the whole internet. Deku was immensely popular and successful as a protagonist who felt underpowered for a long time when the series was released. So it's really contrarians and snobs who hate him because of his legacy.

    I mean, hyperbole/exaggeration was intended in my reply, but yeah. It is a lot of people, because of what I assume is what you said. Outside of that, people who don't watch the show (such as myself) only see the memes about him and thus the shitposts about him carry an unfortunate baggage.

    It's a shame because he is a genuinely likable character. That was actually one of the most unique things about the manga when it was newer, that the main character was one of the most well liked among the whole cast even for more critical readers. I won't say more in case of spoiling anything
